We are pleased to announce that this year, another 30+ Johnson & Johnson employees from our various business sectors across the globe will take on a virtual skill-based assignment supporting global NGOs working on the front lines of care. The secondees will be working to build the capacity of these organizations by sharing their skills, expertise and experience for a period of three to six months.
As the world counts down the “decade of action” to make the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals a reality, Johnson & Johnson together with our partners is taking on two of the toughest challenges facing Sustainable Development Goal 3 and health systems—closing an 18 million health worker shortage and equipping all frontline health workers to thrive. Solving these challenges is critical to achieving key global health priorities such as universal health coverage. The global Johnson & Johnson Secondment Program is addressing these challenges by supporting NGOs to build their capacity and to further raise public health standards in their communities by sharing the skills and expertise of its employees.
The virtual assignments, focus on the needs of the NGO and matches them with the right Johnson & Johnson employee skills, offering managers and senior leaders of the Company the opportunity to take on assignments (from 20 to 100%) ranging from public health and policy to employee wellness and resilience, and from cold chain management to strategic business development. Several roles are again succeeding previous secondments this year, guaranteeing the long-term sustainability and impact of the assignments. Each candidate receives coaching from a senior (and/or retired) Johnson & Johnson leader. The secondees are also supported by program alumni whose role is to share their personal learnings and experiences based on their own secondment journeys.
Since the launch of the Johnson & Johnson Secondment Program in 2014, over 70 employees have participated, sharing their talent for good with NGOs covering 25 countries across the globe to build positive and enduring impact, while enhancing their skills and pursuing their passions. Adding another 30 employees in these uncertain times is a great achievement and is a testament to how our employees are stepping up to address some of the world’s most pressing health challenges.

About the Johnson & Johnson Secondment Program
The Secondment Program, part of the Johnson & Johnson Talent for Good Strategy is a long-term collaboration between Johnson & Johnson, our employees, and our NGO partners to invest in and build the skills of people on the front lines of care across the globe. Through virtual full or part-time assignments of up to six months, our employees transfer their knowledge, expertise, and passion to our partners at the heart of delivering care, uniquely give back to society, and change the trajectory of human health. Since its launch in 2014, over 70 employees from across the globe have participated, supporting 12 NGOs and in-kind donated 54,587 skill-based volunteering hours.
